Apple Vs. Microsoft

In a world where technology rules, the competition between Apple and Microsoft is hotting up!

The majority of businesses use technology as a way of storing records, payroll, EPOS etc. and this is where it becomes more and more difficult to choose which route to go down. Which of the two, provides you with what you are looking for, at a good price, that will survive all the advances in software updates etc. leaving you with very little to worry about?

Apple's Tablet PC the iPad, was and is the ultimate in technological advances in the last few years. Without a doubt, Apple have used their heads on this one. The iPad, for example, could easily have been brought to the market 4 or 5 years ago when the first iPhones were released, but of course, this would not have generated anywhere near the amount of sales and interest as it has done since its release in May 2010. With the recent release of the 2nd generation iPad (iPad 2), sales have again increased and Apple continue to build momentum as they gain more and more of he market share. Apple's next big release will be the ''iPhone 5'', but as per usual, very little has been said about this eagerly awaited product. Let's wait and see what happens.

As for Microsoft, their share in the market has dropped a little since Apples surge for supremacy has taken hold. Microsoft too have released touch screen PCs and mobile telephones to the market that rival Apple, more for the operating system than anything else. It's here that Microsoft begin to regain their hold. Most businesses will use Vista or Windows 7 as their operating system, as a result of most of their employees using similar at home for personal use, therefore reducing the need for training etc. I feel, that Apple's Operating System is easier to use but is a little more expensive which is another reason to stick with Microsoft.

Editing music, video, photographs is so much easier on Apple's Operating System, and the price is reflected accordingly. Also, Apple will not encounter as many problems as their rivals. Microsoft is so much more widely used that viruses etc are more common and therefore have more of an effect on PCs than Macs. Again, you do pay for this with apple, but it is worth the extra money.

Personally, I'm an Apple man. I always have been, and I probably always will be.

Red Box Revisited

Red Box Noodle Bar
West Nicolson Street
Edinburgh

So I thought it was about time I returned to my original blog review, and see how my favourite noodle bar had done in the last few months.

Well, for a start, There were plenty of happy diners. There was a queue of around 20 people as I entered the The Red Box, and every table in the place was taken. The buzz of the bar was electric, the talented chefs were on top of their game as they worked efficiently and continued to delight every single customer. I was only in the building for a matter of minutes as my food was prepared and delivered without fuss or compromise.

I have to say that I expected there to be a hype about the Red box, but having returned on many occasions, I had not seen that kind of vibe before. What a joy to see a small establishment such as this to seemingly be doing so well and thriving upon its local custom, as well as those from further afield.

As always, The Red Box Noodle Bar is A-List Recommended.

Chocolate Soup

Chocolate Soup has always intrigued me. I have heard a lot of good things about Chocolate Soup and I was not disappointed.

I ordered a White Chocolate Caramel which, in all honesty, was simply sublime. With lashings of whipped cream and caramel sauce covering the melted white chocolate, it was an intense flavour explosion as I burst through the layer of cream.

With a massive selection of chocolate variations available, the combinations and possibilities are endless. I will be returning in the near future to sample their pancakes and other chocolate delights.

Jo Jo's Danish Bakery

Jo Jo's Danish Bakery
26 St Mary's Street
Edinburgh
EH1 1SU

This little gem recently opened little over a month ago, and there have been rave reviews from the locals so I felt it time to sample what Jo Jo's has to offer.

Jo Jo's is reported to be the only shop in Scotland to be Certified in Authentic Danish Pastry Production. This is an accolade that many aspire to but those in the past have fallen short.

With this in mind, I had high expectations on entering the quaint little cafe, and the aromas as you walk in are spectacular as they make your mouth water with anticipation. I ordered a custard Danish and Banana Muffin which were on display on the glass counter top, looking colourful and particularly appealing.

The muffin was sublime, very light and moist with a glorious banana frosting. A massive hit!

But onto the main event. The custard danish, a classic pastry that takes years of practice to get right. The pastry was elegant like no other, it was light and flaky, the perfect consistency, and the custard was of the highest quality! I was amazed at how the flavours were so simple but so effective and I will definitely be returning, with recommendations in hand!

Red Bull Simply Cola

Red Bull Simply Cola is the latest offering from the Energy Drinks giants. It is made from 100% natural sources.

Served cold, this new brand of cola is extremely refreshing and with a very botanically brewed flavour, it has a taste sensation that makes you want more. With no excess caffeine to speak of, this cola drink is potentially a world dominating drink, although it has some work to do before taking on the likes of Pespsico and Coca Cola.

I, along with millions of others the world over, look forward to experiencing the  new and exciting drinks range that Red Bull will throw at us and I will continue to support them as they discover new and exciting ways to keep us energised.  Food for thought....Cherry flavoured Red bull.
