Mountain Dew Energy

After a long absence from UK shelves, Mountain Dew is back!

It's more popular than ever, and a regular feature in shops around the United Kingdom! I for one was ecstatic about the return of Mountain Dew, and I have not been disappointed. Within a few months of the Mountain Dew becoming more and more successful, the arrival of Mountain Dew Energy, suggested a serious competitor to the giants of the Torro Rosso variety.

Having compared the two Mountain Dew offerings, it would be reasonable to say that the tastes are very similar, with the obvious addition of caffeine. There is certainly a market for this type of spin on an original. Personally, I love the taste of Mountain Dew and the Energy option is a good stimulator compared to the competition.

With this in mind, the cost of Mountain Dew in the UK was a little high originally at close to £2 for 500ml and £5 for 2 litres. Now, having been back for a sustained period, the prices are being relaxed across the board.

Over the years, I have imported Mountain Dew from the USA at a very high price and I am very happy to see it available once again in the UK.

Domino's Pizza

Domino's Pizza
101 Nicolson Street
Edinburgh
Midlothian
EH8 9BY

When: 2.30pm, 21st Dec 2010
What: Two For Tuesday, 1x Pepperoni Passion, 1x Cheese with NO sauce and 1x Garlic Pizza Bread
Cost: £16.98
How: Ordered using iPhone App

As a regular Domino's Pizza customer, and an avid user of technology, the Domino's Pizza iPhone Application was an easy and convenient way to order our lunch.

Having ordered, and waiting in anticipation for the pizza we all know and love, we laughed and joked that the ordering process was too good to be true, suggesting that the pizza with no sauce would arrive as a normal Cheese and Tomato and that the delivery would take longer than normal. Our slightly unique order was as a result of one person being allergic to the tomato sauce. When the pizza arrived, we were, to say the least, a little disappointed.

The delivery time was outstanding, not even half an hour, however, as jokingly feared, the plain cheese pizza did come with tomato sauce. To the stores credit, when I 'phoned them about this issue, the customer service was decent and we were given the correct pizza at no extra charge, and told that the ordering system would be looked at and any issues would be rectified as soon as possible. With this in mind, the 3rd pizza arrived within ten minutes, and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The pizzas were full of flavour as expected, and I will happily order from Domino's again, possibly using the website or over the 'phone.

On approach to the shop, the old Edinburgh building is inviting and exciting to look at, steeped in history, and having walked past on a number of occasions, decided to indulge in potentially the best fudge in Edinburgh.

The service was impecable, the shop was immaculate, and the fudge is a taste sensation. The flavours are phenomenal, and the aroma is to die for. The selection of flavours available is immense, from traditional to Turkish Delight, there is something for everyone. A must visit for all, they also have coffee available and with the ambience being perfect for the area of town, I will be returning to sample their hot beverages.

Having a sweet tooth, fudge is the ultimate in treats, and with Christmas just around the corner, I will certainly be recommending the establishment. Simply, the whole experience of the fudge leads me to the conclusion that the Fudge House of Edinburgh does provide the best in fudge Edinburgh.

Cherry Vimto

So the makers of Vimto decided to release a new fizzy flavour sensation of the cherry variety.

Essentially, this new Cherry Vimto is the original mix of fruits, with the additionhere cherries. There is a certain appeal that I cannot escape. It's intense, it's different, it's a twist on the original that will rival the current Market.

Available in all major supermarkets and convenience stores, this new variety of Vimto is definitely for the fans and will continue to have success alongside the original.

I remain fixed on the intense fruity twist of the original and would quite happily take Cherry Vimto any day.

Lickety Split

Lickety Split
Jeffrey Street
Edinburgh
EH1

When: 14th Dec 2010, 2.45pm
What: 200g Vampire Teeth and 100g Fizzy Cherry Cola Bottles
Price: £4.80 (£1.60 per 100g)

One of my favourite pastimes is eating sweets. From traditional soor plooms to sports mixture, sherbet fountains to cola bottles, Lickety Split has one of the best selections of sweets in the city and is extremely good value for money. For those of us with a sweet tooth, this is undoubtedly the shop for you.

A friendly welcome combined with good product knowledge leads to the difficult task of choosing from the vast shelves of jarred candies.
Always one for something new and exciting, the summer months provide the perfect opportunity for the shop to share the flavour explosion that is their ice cream selection. Banana Marshmallow is a particular favourite of mine whilst traditional flavours like vanilla and chocolate are available for those lacking a little adventure.

Overall, for me, this establishment is the best candy shop in the city and will continue to grow as the word spreads of it's selection and great value for money.

Edinburgh
EH8 9DB

When: 13th Dec 2010, 2.30pm

Having spoken to friends and family regarding the establishment, I was intrigued by the reviews and decided to pay the Red Box Noodle Bar a visit and sample the food for myself. From the moment I walked in the door, I was impressed with the building, the decor and the ambience in the bar. The menu was clear and concise and the options were outstanding.
